One way to remove mental obstacles is by practicing the meditation to know contentment. This helps us examine our current circumstances to see whether we’re taking anything for granted. In this meditation workshop you will learn a practical method of self-reflection that increases feelings of contentment. To take ourselves back to the mind we had in childhood, when happiness was simple and pure. To again remember the words, “learning to be content with small things.”

Being happy with what we have is a secret to the greatest happiness. To be content is to love our lives, embrace them for what they are, and accept that we all have unique lives of our own. We have been blessed with so much to be thankful for, including each of the days of our lives.

Workshop Reading
We were given so much throughout childhood – cloths, food, a home, an allowance, an education, teachers, friends, school supplies, televisions, radios, stereos, and, above all, hope for a bright future. These were all gifts we were blessed with. In spite of all these gifts, many of us formed a negative self-image and developed a habit on focusing on the minuses in life. We compare ourselves with others in school, at home, and at work. There were good times when we were recognized for our contributions and other times when we were not. During these low points, it was easy to focus on criticisms and hurt and to forget about the love, kindness, and positive words we had received. A gratitude practice helps shift us away from this kind of thinking and refocus on life’s pluses.
